January the 1st 2017, I started out on a new challenge. One that wasn't going to be hard to keep up, one that didn't scare me, and one that I was inspired to participate in. The #Walk1000Miles Challenge.
The walk 1000 miles challenge is exactly what it sounds like. You walk 1000 miles in a year. That's roughly 2.74 miles a day. Easy.
I work outdoors and I relax outdoors. This was going to be a piece of cake. I put on my sports watch, and have tallied up all the miles of the year, as every single step counts.
As of the 7th December 2017, I have completed the challenge.
My feet have taken me on a fantastic journey. I started out this year as a person who felt very introverted, unhealthy, and ready for change. I finished the challenge feeling like I have made more genuine connections and friendships with people than ever before. I have made so many changes in my life for the better. I have tried loads of new things, from gorge walking to caving. My whole outlook on life has become more inspired to challenge myself, and put myself out of my comfort zone.
My feet have taken me to so many new places, such as my first long distance walk: The Three Loch's way, or deep gorges such as the devils pulpit. Each adventure has been equally as thrilling and beautiful. There hasn't been a single place I have visited that I thought "I'd rather be at home!"
And to top it all off, I haven't just aimlessly walked 1000 miles, I have achieved something. I can now say that I have walked 1000 miles in one year, and I hope in the future I can walk 1000 miles in just under a couple of months!
I will defintley be taking part in this challenge again as of January the 1st 2018, and this time my challenge is to #walk1000miles before Halloween!
