Stepping out into the world of solo adventures.

I have finally gotten home and back into my normal routine, from a five day trip to Skye. This trip had two intentions:
1. See my fiance, (who works up there as a diver, and lives there for 6 weeks at a time)
2. While he was at work, do as much as possible. 

It was a little bit daunting to begin with, having so much on offer and no one to help me decide where to go, but I soon took this on board as an opportunity. I could see Skye at my own pace, I could wake up at the time I wanted, and see anything and everything. 

That's exactly what I did. My other half would wake up early for work. I would wake up the same time as him, do some research and head out. I made it my task to see the popular places before most tourists where awake, and leave the not so popular places until after lunch time. So either way I would get the quiet end of the deal.

The first breath of fresh air of each adventure is the always most refreshing. The breath that says, "I'm doing something amazing." It fills your lungs with motivation and excitement for the steps ahead. Then the first step out of the car, where your head is held high, your senses are running wild; seeing the beautiful landscape, hearing the sounds of the birds and the trees, feeling the cold breeze through your hair and smelling the beautiful natural smell of the outdoors.  Your brain is alive, awake, and figuring out your next move. You can move slowly and peacefully because there is no one else about. You can stop whenever you want, and just sit. That was one of the most pleasant feelings in the world: being able to sit and just be! 

Each day I would be out of the house by 9am, and back at about 5pm. I only had a rough plan, nothing set in stone. I consulted maps every two seconds to find my next move. By the time it came to my last my day, I was practically glowing. Every selfie I took I looked happy and radiant. That's how I felt. I felt content. Like the whole world was achievable just by taking my time.  

So if you get the chance, make sure you have a go at a solo walk, in nature. Its such a beautiful feeling, great for your fitness, and your mental health. I can't wait until my next solo adventure, to see where my two feet take me.
